PacketShaper Information and Configuration Limits for All Modles of PacketShapers

Packeteer Demo Room

Packeteer's application traffic management system applies a methodical approach to managing business application performance over the WAN and Internet. This approach involves administering network monitoring, bandwidth management, and compression from one unique, integrated appliance. The following demonstrations provide a close-up view to that system's features, functions, and benefits.

Overview : Packeteer® in Action
Learn about the cause of WAN performance problems, their severe effects on business performance, and how Packeteer systems overcome them in a decisive, cost-effective manner.

Network Monitoring : PacketSeeker™
Discover the value of Packeteer's unparalleled visibility: Application-layer traffic classification, performance analysis (link utilization, response times, delays, etc.), and onboard reporting.

PacketSeeker Data Sheet

Network Monitoring + Bandwidth Management : PacketShaper®
Learn how to fix the problems that are discovered. Leverage application-layer monitoring by applying appropriate bandwidth management techniques to control network traffic: From admission policies and dynamic bandwidth provisioning to TCP and UDP Rate Control to packet marking (MPLS, Diffserv, 802.1 p/q, ISL, IP TOS, etc.).

PacketShaper Data Sheet

Network Monitoring + Bandwidth Management + Compression : PacketShaper Xpress™
Discover the benefits of applying compression to WAN traffic that is already tightly monitored and controlled - from optimizing throughput and removing repetitive data to extending existing bandwidth and avoiding costly link upgrades.

PacketShaper Xpress Data Sheet

Centralized Management : PolicyCenter
Learn how to administer policy-based bandwidth management from one central location for Packeteer units deployed throughout a distributed WAN.

PolicyCenter Data Sheet

Centralized Management : ReportCenter™
Learn how to aggregate performance analysis from Packeteer units deployed throughout a distributed WAN - from one central location.

Note: PacketWise 7.2 is supported on all models in this table. However, only the models in the shaded columns are currently being sold.

Not all capacity specifications can be maximized simultaneously.

* No extra partitions are specifically allocated for dynamic partitions. The 1200 and 1500 series have a pool of partitions to be shared between static and dynamic.

** These numbers have been rounded. PacketShaper can support more hosts and flows, however these figures represent the ideal maximums for producing optimal results. It is normal and expected to see the number of concurrent hosts at its limit.

*** Older Packeteer 2500 units shipped with less than 512 MB RAM and without a Memory Upgrade Kit installed do not support all PacketWise 7.2 features and may support fewer flows and classes.

Packeteer 1550 units with serial numbers 015-10006000 and higher support 2 Mbps of compressed throughput; units with serial numbers 015-10005999 or lower support 512 Kbps.

†† Packeteer 2500 units with serial numbers 025-10009500 and higher support 4 Mbps of compressed throughput; units with serial numbers 025-10009499 or lower support 2 Mbps.
