An Introduction to Layer7.comm

Layer7 Network Solutions CC trading as Layer7.comm was established in 2005, born out the member’s experience and expertise in network and application optimisation through analysis. Our experience spans from network and application analysis in a multitude of environments such as Manufacturing, Banking Retail, Medical and Government over many different topologies including Token Ring, ATM, X21, V11, ISDN, PPP, Ethernet and Satellite.

Layer7.comm have always maintained that we will find the underlying root cause of application ill performance in a network through analysis. Typically it is all too easy to mask network problems with a band-aid approach such as upgrading infrastructure. The band-aid approach seldom offers a long term resolution to the problem.

Due to the high cost of bandwidth in South Africa, there is large focus on optimisation of application performance across the network and curb bandwidth abuse.

The IT industry has boomed for many years in South Africa; however there is a growing realisation in the market that the lifespan of network resources is declining due to the demands placed on them by ineffective use, at such a rate that the initial perceived return on investment is not being appreciated by the business. In contrast, business is demanding more from the network infrastructure and so the downward spiral continues. Financial Directors are working closer to IT to bridge these gaps by spending more money in optimisation to extend the life of their original investments.

In the truest sense of the words there are very few “focused analytical companies” with the expertise to resolve problems that transcend the scope of conventional network management tools. Analytical expertise can view problems through the OSI Model from Layer1 to Layer7 to solve the root cause of “network”.

Our product set is positioned for the South African market, from a cost technology and solution perspective. Our product set scales well and resolves an enormous range of network problems, at a competitive price point.
